Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Dr Rudy Wietfeldt

Dr Wietfeldt began his vocation at age 16 when volunteering at Toronto General Hospital in the Thoracic Surgery Ward and in the Emergency Room. It was there on the 11th floor he routinely visited with the emphysema patients and the world's first single lung and double lung transplant recipients.

It was in the emergency room that Dr Wietfeldt determined that this line of work would be his life calling and professional passion. Speaking with individuals who presented with suicidal ideation impacted his life-long decision to pursue clinical psychology. These are suffering people whose stories need to heard, whose lives need to be saved.

For over two decades he worked in the E.R., the Urgent Care Clinic, The Emergency Psychiatric Assessment Unit, and his own private practice assessing and treating thousands of individuals with severe depression, anxiety, post traumatic stress disorder, and suicidal ideation or suicide attempts, among other clinical issues.

Along the way, Dr Wietfeldt adopted the principles of Positive Psychology by studying emotions, individual strengths, and the seemingly elusive pursuit of happiness. He was asked to write and host a 12-episode series on the science and practice of happiness for the Oprah Winfrey Network. Today, his work can be viewed and read around the world.

After 30+ years of clinical work, in addition to writing, speaking, and e-learning course creation, Dr Wietfeldt continues his passion to help individuals, couples, families and groups via telepsychology.

Who comes to see Dr Wietfeldt?

I have been blessed with the opportunity of working with individuals from all walks of life.

All walks of life.

I have treasured working with the homeless, those incapable of working because of lifelong disability, and those who have attempted to end their lives.

I have treasured working with pimps, prostitutes, pedophiles and politicians; low-ranking and high-ranking members of Hell's Angels and executives in corporate America; physicians, accountants, and attorneys; pre-marital couples and pre-divorce couples as well as families torn apart by pain and time.

Having done my internship in a military track, I have treasured working with the women and men of all branches of the armed forces, including veterans and those in active duty; Navy Seals and Army Rangers; privates to Generals.

I have treasured working with actors and performing artists of all types; Olympic and professional athletes and their families. Not to mention stay-at-home moms and dads, grandmas and grandpas.

Indeed, I have treasured the opportunity of walking alongside thousands of people with all types of pains and burdens, as well as hopes and dreams (even when these hopes and dreams are destroyed or unimaginable.)

I have treasured working with those who have seen 10 therapists and nothing seems to help.

I have treasured working with those who are spiritually lost and in existential angst, unaware how to find the meaning of life. The meaning of their life.

In all these people and in all their pain, I have seen the face of Jesus.

A lifelong Christian, I do include Christ's teachings wherever helpful and encouraging and appropriate. I work with a lot of Christian believers. I also work with people of all faiths and with agnostics and atheists.

This is your life, your journey, your mountain to climb. My job is not to convince you of my beliefs or values; my job is to help you clearly see your values and principles so you can live your true, authentic life. I am honored to be your sherpa, helping you get to your mountain top as safely and as quickly as possible (while helping you enjoy the detours as much as humanly possible.)

If you see yourself wanting to live your best life possible, if you still have a higher mountain you want to climb, do not give up. Help is available for you. Click the gold Appointment button and I'll get back to you in a short time.
